New Features in Commuter Version 1.00
A few words about the Eicar Standard AntiVirus Test File:
The Eicar Standard AntiVirus Test File is a combined effort by
antivirus vendors throughout the world to come up with one
standard by which customers can verify their antivirus installations.
To test your installation, you would copy the following line into its
own file and name it EICAR.COM.
X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*
When done, you will have a 69 or 70 byte file.
When VirusScan is applied to this file, SCAN will report finding the
EICAR-STANDARD-AV-TEST-FILE virus.
It is very important to know that THIS IS NOT A VIRUS! However,
users often have the need to test that their installations function
correctly. The antivirus industry, through the European Institute
for Computer Antivirus Research, has adopted this standard to
facilitate this need.
Please delete the file when installation testing is completed so
unsuspecting users are not unnecessarily alarmed.
Notes:
The next DAT update is scheduled for July with another in Sept.
Intermediate "emergency" updates will be available only through the
BBS.

Introduction to Commuter for Windows 95
Thousands of people telecommute and work in "virtual
offices" (home, office, remote office and hotel rooms).
Working with desktop and laptop computer running Windows
95,McAfee's Commuter provides a high performance set of
tools for the mobile or telecommuting professional.
Today, mobile and telecommuting professionals need to
communicate electronically through e-mail while having a
full performance contact manager and calendar readily
available. Data security and protection are paramount issues
while on the road. With these needs in mind, Commuter was
designed especially for mobile and telecommuting
professionals. It features an integrated set of powerful,
affordable applications including: Virus Protection,
Personal Desktop Storage Management, Electronic Mail, a
Personal Information Organizer, Calendar, contact manager
and to-do list..
Commuter can communicate through electronic mail, with the popular
Pegasus e-mail package, and manage your schedule and
contacts using Sidekick 95. Data protection is provided by
McAfee's VirusScan 95, and personal file backup and disaster
recovery is easy with McAfee's SmartStor. All these functions
are integrated into a common utility/launch panel Dashboard 95.

McAfee Commuter Electronic Documentation
Additional information about installing and using Commuter and its
components can be found in the accompanying PDF files located in the
DOCS subdirectory; and on the McAfee Web site (Commuter Disk0). The
files are in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format, and can be viewed
using Adobe Acrobat Reader. This form of electronic documentation
includes hypertext links and easy navigation to assist you in quickly
finding answers to questions and useful tips for using Commuter.
Adobe Acrobat Reader is available on the Commuter CD in the ACROREAD
subdirectory.

Known Issues
When a macro virus is detected in conjuction with other viruses, the
macro virus remover will not work. We are still working on this. If
you encounter this, you can remove the other virus first or work in
a separate area.

Dashboard 95: See README.WRI in the "Dashboard 95" subdirectory.
Sidekick 95: See README.WRI in the "Sidekick 95" subdirectory.
VirusScan: See WHATSNEW.TXT in the "VirusScan 95" subdirectory.
Pegasus: See WGUIDE.HLP in the "Pegasus" subdirectory.
SmartStor: See SMRTSTOR.TXT in the "SmartStor" subdirectory.
ImageStor: See README.TXT in the "ImageStor" subdirectory.
General Issues:
1. You must exit all Commuter programs including Commuter Dashboard
before uninstalling. If you do not exit all Commuter programs,
all components will not be removed.
2. ImageStor is not installed during a typical installation, but may
be installed in a custom installation.
3. You must remove the tape from your tape drive prior to Commuter
installation. If you do not remove the tape from your tape drive,
upon restarting your computer for the first time after installing
Commuter, an error will occur. If this occurs, restart your system
once again.
